A turbine is defined as a rotary engine that extracts energy from a fluid flow and converts it into useful power.
Turbine Collection employs static--yet dynamic--wooden propellers that encircle a black lacquer subframe.
Consisting of a side table (dia19x22"h), a cocktail table (dia43x16"h) and a console table (54x16x32"h), Turbine is a sophisticated and dramatic.
Custom dimensions, materials and finishes by request.Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design2012 -
This project was a study in distilling iconic silhouettes to their most basic form while still remaining recognizable. The construction is from a softwood called Cedar, in both a natural and dark finish. The legs are pressure-fit into the body so they are secure but easily removable by a child. They are made from a medium-density foam with a faux leather grain texture.Toy Design, Product Design, Industrial Design2012 -
The Jagged Edges Collection was inspired by end cuts of teak wood from one of the manufacturers we work with out of Indonesia. We take long spans of irregular scraps and plane them smooth and squared-off. A vegetable dye is rubbed on my hand to give it a deep finish.
There is a play between what are inherently irregular cuts of wood that are carefully and resolutely joined together. Order from chaos...or something like that, right?
The cocktail table measures 48x34x16"h and the console 66x16x34"h. The console is reminiscent of a stage with a grand curtain, ready to show off vases or sculptures you've collected over the years.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2011 -
Bavarian Motor Works is the German automobile, motorcycle and engine manufacturing company more commonly referred to as BMW. If you are a fan, then this table needs no introduction.
Although BMW has been around since 1916, their motorsport and performance division was born in the mid 1980s. The emblem has become iconic...almost 'cult-ish'.
///M Table measures 42x32x17"h and is constructed from cold-pressed steel. It is finished in a durable and sexy powder coat that matches exactly the pantones on the real logo. Other finishes can be custom ordered. Will be produced and distributed by award-winning US-based company Phillips Collection. Pricing and availability available upon request.Furniture Design, Automotive Design, Industrial Design2011 -
Quantum is a dining table that interprets what the movement or path of subatomic particles might look like. Heavy gauge steel wire is hand-formed, then powder-coated black. This forms a pedestal base for a lacquered orange corian top.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2011 -
Although the appearance is random, the way the configuration is achieved is quite mathematical. I find the advanced molding and manufacturing of this organic piece to be intriguing. Pick Up Planter measures dia20x16"h and is made from artist-grade resin. Finished in a glossy black lacquer with orange dowels. Other finishes can be custom ordered.Furniture Design, Product Design, Industrial Design2011 -
Each form, like the bowling ball, is cast and then reassembling in columns to form four legs of a dining table. The entire piece is finished in glossy white. This gives it a porcelain-like appearance. A juxtaposition of rich polish and ordinary objects equals a true objet d'art. A limited edition black version is available with gold electroplating.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2011 -
The goal of this design was to create balance. Five flattened stones, haphazardly stacked, act as a pedestal base for a floating top. The possibilities are endless in terms of fit and finish. The base, measuring 42x28x29"h can be used by itself as a pedestal or small table. The client can purchase it with a glass or live edge wood top, at their specific dimensions.
There is a certain peaceful serenity that goes along with river stones. You see it in Japanese rock gardens or by tribes throughout the world; stacking stones as offerings to the spirits or to mark a historic site. There is a powerful reference in the simple and organic use of stone in design that calls upon past traditions. This modern interpretation offers many finish options but ultimately the user will fall for the form and the calming feeling it evokes.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2011 -
A platform is a horizontal structure that is raised above the surrounding area. It serves to elevate and bring attention to an object or a speaker.
The Platform Table is a low cocktail table with a sleek profile. The stacking of slabs of lacquered wood gives many options for use and decoration. Shown with simple vases in bone white.
Custom finishes available. Dimensions are 56x36x14"h.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2011 -
In geometry, a right angle is an angle formed by two straight lines that intersect at exactly 90 degrees. As a rotation, a right angle corresponds to a quarter turn, as in a quarter of a full circle.
I love exploring dimension, and what comes across as a simple table is actual a painstakingly balanced series of abrupt changes in direction. My intention was to go against one's natural desire to create a standard path metal bars would move to create a table. The asymmetry works because the angles are so exact. As I worked and reworked the lines, I realized there was opportunity to play with functional glass shelves at different heights.
Right Angles is a cocktail table and it measures 48x34x17"h. Constructed from cold-pressed steel and finished in matte black. Other finishes can be custom ordered. Will be produced and distributed by award-winning US-based company Phillips Collection. Pricing and availability available upon request.Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design2011 -
Treforma is a study of diffusion and scattering; where surfaces can change in many directions, without the change in inherent nature of the components. Three tables, formed by bending tinted glass, nest together to form a single unit. Both an art piece and a functional space-saver in smaller spaces, it is the decision of the client how to use it.Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design2011 -
The String Theory Table is a dining table but also an art piece. Finished in bone white, the pillar, rectangular top, and supporting pipes are homogeneous. The various plans, densities, and juxtaposition creates multiple dimensions of dynamics.
Dimensions are 84x39x30"h. Pricing and availability available upon request. Limited to 3 pieces.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2011 -
The Prism Tables are named after the optical effect of light refracting off polished surfaces. Mimicking the facets of a precious gem, and creating flat highlights, midtones, and shadows on both lacquered and natural surfaces. The chunky yet slender table balances on a sturdy metal base. Available in glossy black lacquer or natural, eco-friendly bamboo strips.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2011 -
Morphing is a special effect where changes in an object are made through seamless transition. Using modern digital techniques, a distortion is achieved by marking corresponding points and vectors on the various surfaces. Morphing algorithms continue to advance and many programs can automatically morph images that correspond closely enough with relatively little instruction from the artist. The result is a fluid design with interesting yet balanced curvatures.
The Morpheus Table is a cocktail-sized occasional piece that uses a liquid metal technique to achieve its surfacing and finish. A matte nickel surface takes in the colors and shapes of the surrounding environment, much like Chicago's 'Cloud Gate' by Indian-born British artist Anish Kapoor.
Dimensions are 48x34x15"h. Pricing and availability available upon request. Limited to 10 pieces.Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design2011 -
Al Dente is a new concept for 2010. Inspired by uncooked strands of spaghetti, this is quite a departure from the critically-acclaimed Continuum Dining Table where there is fluidity and curves. Al Dente explores the relationship with space and environment but from a fractal perspective. Note the way the density shifts from one end to the other.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -
Corocotta was a Cantabrian warrior leader during the 1st century BC. His great achievement was the union of the disperse Cantabri clans in an alliance against the invading Roman armies, to the great exasperation of the powerful empire.Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design2010 -
Bamboos are also the fastest growing woody plants in the world. They are capable of growing up to 24 in or more per day. Holey is a console table that employs both a resolved feeling and a separation of the ovular center and the remaining bulk. The center is a brushed metal while the rest is chromed. The play on form makes this functional and sculptural all at once.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -
Topological sweeping is a form of the plane sweep with a relaxed ordering that avoids the necessity of relying on points to form a shape; in doing so sweep line algorithms can be performed more efficiently.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -
Bandit is a project that will be prototyped immediately
and manufactured by The Phillips Collection.
It will be sold exclusively through authorized Phillips dealers around the world.
A single item that, when rotated even slightly, takes on a new form. It is almost
a critique on society, as we all fit one mold, but through controlling our
own destinies, we become unique.
I had a lot of fun playing with many forms and how they relate to an environment.
Will be initially available in White Lacquer/Silver Leaf and
Black Lacquer/Gold Leaf. Dimensions are dia18x72"h.
Construction is resin/fiberglass shell with lacquer and foil applique.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -
Bamboo's long life makes it a Chinese symbol of longevity, while in India it is a symbol of friendship. The rarity of its blossoming has led to the flowers' being regarded as a sign of impending famine.

A statement piece for those that want to stand out. A single, fused piece, the spotlight chair appears to be center stage. An elliptical base plate gives the sense that it is being hit with a strong beam of light. A simple yet elegant chair.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -

The idea behind Penta Chunk was to take in irregularly-sided chunk of wood and have it become each of the six sides of a cube. The result is a very interesting, unapologetic geometry.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -

A credenza is a piece of furniture that became very fashionable during the second half of the 19th century. Often made of a burnished and polished wood decorated with marquetry. Originally in Italian the name meant belief.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -
Isn't it those 'happy accidents' that produce some of our best work? I wasn't aiming to create this design when it sort of fell from the sky. I figured a dining chair can be close to 30 inches high at the top of the backrest so why can't a few mismatched and stacked dining chairs form a table base. It's one of those times where it's crazy but it just makes sense. As a 'sculptor' of fine furniture, I find reaching that moment of balance of form and tension to be quite exciting. I hope you enjoy.Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design2010 -
